colocation services
Secure premises, intelligent networking and 24/7 support. |
Ipera can provide colocation space in one of our data centres for customers that require their own dedicated server hardware. Colocation allows your organisation to take full advantage of the features and capabilities built in to Ipera's network and data centre.
Co-locating your equipment at The Ipera Data Centre eliminates the prohibitive startup and running costs of your own in-house data centre and is affordable for SME's through to major corporations with a single monthly service bill. With our data centre located right here in Newcastle, Australia we can now offer services that previously were only available in capital cities. Colocation space in our data centre is available from 2 Rack Units (2RU) up to full racks with options for power, network access, firewall and intrusion detection.
The Ipera Data Centre is supported 24/7 by fully trained network technicians and system administrators who can provide both telephone and on-site support for your colocated equipment during and outside of business hours. If required, we can arrange for continuous monitoring of your systems and applications by our network management software.
Ipera's core network employs a wide range of high-end routers, switches and firewalls to ensure a world-class network of extremely high availability and performance. Our core network is meshed and multihomed and can intelligently self-heal in the event of multiple link failure.
Access to secure areas in the IDC is via swipe card, authorised by our computerised access-control system. All visitors to the data centre must be pre-authorised by a client and provide satisfactory proof of identity before access is granted to colocation equipment. Our staff monitor the physical security of racks and cabinets on a daily basis and ensure that all colocated equipment is kept locked and secure.
The Ipera Data Centre is equipped with a 180kVA diesel generator and UPS. The diesel generator is provisioned with 35 hours of fuel at full load. Ipera have negotiated priority fuel supply contracts with multiple vendors for prompt refueling in the event of an extended power outage. The backup generator is maintained by specialist contractors and is regularly tested under load. All colocation racks and cabinets are connected to dual power circuits to provide support for equipment with dual power supply units.
The IDC is protected with an automatic FM200 fire suppression system. The suppression system is connected to a Very Early Smoke Detection Apparatus (VESDA) that performs "active sniffing" using laser technology to detect the ionised particles present during the very early stages of a smoldering fire. The VESDA system will alert onsite staff who can delay the FM200 and investigate the cause of any alarm and deal with any fire incident using one of the multiple hand held fire extinguishers or by manually activating the FM200 system. As with all the building’s infrastructure, the fire systems are maintained to Australian standards and by specialist third-party contractors.
Numerous cooling units are positioned throughout the IDC that provide ample cooling for customer equipment throughout the year. All areas have redundancy built in in the event of a cooling unit failure and our equipment is maintained by specialist contractors who can attend to site 24/7 if required.
Ipera maintain multiple high-speed connections to Tier-1 and Tier-2 network providers. We currently peer with PIPE, Powertel, Nextgen, Nextep and Pacific Internet. Clients can also connect their own services from other providers for additional network diversity.
